Frequently asked questions
What do I need to grow mushrooms at home?
You'll need a mushroom growing kit, sterile tools (like syringes and gloves), and a place with good humidity and temperature control.
How do Mushroom Growing Kits work?
Kits come with a pre-colonized substrate (ready to grow mushrooms) and simple instructions. Just follow the steps, keep it humid, and you'll have mushrooms in a few weeks!
Can I reuse mushroom growing supplies?
Growing kits are for one harvest, but you can reuse tools like syringes and containers. Just clean them well!
Are mushroom growing supplies legal?
Growing kits, spores, and liquid culture are usually legal. But when it comes to growing psychedelic mushrooms (like Psilocybe cubensis), the rules can vary a lot. Always check your local laws before getting started with those.
Can I grow psychedelic mushrooms with your liquid cultures or growing kits?
Our liquid cultures and growing kits are sold strictly for research and educational purposes. While they can be used to cultivate mushrooms from strains that are known for their psychedelic properties, such as Psilocybe cubensis, we do not promote the cultivation or consumption of psilocybin mushrooms. It’s important to check your local laws regarding the cultivation of psychedelic mushrooms before proceeding.
How long does it take to grow mushrooms?
With liquid culture, expect 3-4 weeks from inoculation to harvest. With spores, it’s closer to 4-6 weeks.
Do I need special knowledge to grow mushrooms at home?
Not really! Mushroom kits are beginner-friendly. The key is following the instructions carefully and ensuring the right environmental conditions. For beginners, kits with pre-colonized substrates and liquid cultures are the best starting point.
What types of mushrooms can I grow at home?
You can grow edible mushrooms (like Oyster or Shiitake), medicinal mushrooms (like Reishi), and psychedelic mushrooms (where legal).
Do your liquid cultures contain psilocybin or psilocin?
No, our liquid cultures do not contain psilocybin or psilocin. Liquid cultures are simply a suspension of fungal mycelium, which is in a pre-colonized state and ready to grow once injected into a suitable substrate. Psilocybin and psilocin are only present in the fruiting bodies of certain mushrooms once they have matured under the right conditions.
